The Truth about High Fructose Corn Syrup

You might remember that some of my very favorite commercials are from the Corn Refiners Association.  I love the way they try to make people feel like idiots if they try to steer clear of HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup).  All I have to say is keep your eyes and ears open because I have the latest news on High Fructose Corn Syrup.  According Health Day, a study soon to be released in the journal Hepatology, HFCS has been linked to liver damage in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

The Corn Refiners don't like this study (what a surprise) and had the following to say:
" ...associative studies of this kind are widely judged to be of low scientific value when trying to establish cause-and-effect, data from studies like this that are dependent on recollection of the study subjects are notoriously imprecise, and these studies are full of confounding variables and exceedingly difficult to control."

Watch your labels, cut your consumption of HFCS and stay posted...

  4. Oh yeah... I totally support your opinion on HFCS, because it is so dangerous and poisonous for our own health. We should all avoid foods poisoned with High Fructose Corn Syrup.

  5. Some would argue that sugar is a poison too. The thing really is to get the word out to consumers that there are things to know when making your decision on how much HFCS to consume. It is really very hard to cut it out completely.
