How to Steer Your Shopping Cart Clear of GMO's and Make Sure Your Food is NOT Genetically Modified

Yesterday I posted my favorite new song and video from the Health Ranger Mike Adams.  I really really love that song and the Health Ranger is pretty easy on the eyes right?  I appreciate the way that he makes something that can be confusing pretty simple to understand...Just Say No to GMO!  I received a comment on yesterday's post from a very dear friend of my family that we made during our time living in Michigan.  She wanted to know how exactly we can steer clear of GMO's?

I wish that I could say that making sure we are steering our shopping carts clear of GMO's  is as easy to understand as the health Ranger's video, but I can't.  Well that is only partially true; It is super easy for produce and although it is a bit more complicated for everything else, we can figure this out.

Okay so Let's Start Easy with non-GMO Produce!
This is so easy it is laughable.  Now we all know that getting to know your local farmers at your town's  Farmer's Market is a great way to go non-GMO.  Still, if you are like me, right now there aren't any that fit into your crazy schedule.  So, get a pen and paper or make a note in your iPhone  cuz I am going to tell you how to make sure your produce is GMO free.

All of your produce has a numeric code called a PLU. Just by looking at the code on your produce label, you can tell if the fruit was genetically modified, organically grown or produced with chemical fertilizers, fungicides, or herbicides.
* A four-digit number means it’s conventionally grown.
* A five-digit number beginning with 9 means it’s organic.
* A five-digit number beginning with 8 means it’s a GMO.
