Reinventing Carpooling with Zimride and Social Media

I remember long ago when I was in college, back in the Stone Age when the wheel was square and so was I, carpooling was accomplished by pinning a note to a board and hoping someone would find it and give you a ride.  These days, kids are smarter and entrepreneurs are younger with ideas that fit their generation's easy adaptation of social media.  Case in point, Zimride.

Created by a couple of 20 something geniuses, one graduated first in his class at Cornell, Zimride is changing the way people think about carpooling.  It was only a matter of time before someone figured out how to harness the power of social media to ride-sharing.  Zimride makes ride-sharing easy and takes away worry.  No more worry about whether or not you will get gas money from your passenger, with Zimride you will get paid. If your ride ditches you, you can get a refund easily from Zimride.

"Zimriding is really fun," says John Zimmer, the company's co-founder and chief operating officer."We've had people who have met a girlfriend or boyfriend, or found a new job."
Although it is most popular right now in California and on college campuses, I think Zimride's future is unlimited.  A couple of my friends on Facebook are already users.  Check out Zimride on Facebook and let me know how you like it!

P.S.- Have you heard about The Green PolkaDot Box! Recently launched with over 12,000 members and backed by the Organic Consumer's Association, you can easily buy NonGMO organics at wholesale pricing online.  It's like a Sam's club but focused on products for green, healthy living!!  You can even shop by dietary restrictions like gluten free, vegan or diabetic.
