As we celebrate our freedom this Independence Day, I cannot help but think about our furry, loyal and sweet canine friends that are suffering with the loss of their freedom. Each day throughout the world these precious animals long to have the love of a human who respects and cares for them. Sadly many come to the end of their lives without ever knowing what it feels like to be loved. Don't dogs deserve better than to be cast off on a chain or in a pen? Dogs Deserve Better is Working to Unchain Man's Best Friend
Dogs Deserve Better, is a nationally recognized, award winning non-profit that has as its mission to speak for, and rescue, penned and chained dogs. As the days become years, many chained and penned dogs sit, lay, eat, and spend all of their time within the same 10-foot area or less. Chained by the neck, they exist without love, respect, exercise, social interaction, and sometimes even basic nourishment. They live as prisoners, yet long to be pets.
The Dogs Deserve Better annual Chain Off has been held around the 4th of July since 2004, highlighting the reality that while Americans are celebrating their own freedom, there are tens of thousands of man's best friends in every state who are still not free: America's chained and penned dogs.
