What Do These Statistics Mean For 2022?

In 2021 (to date), Google accounted for just over 70% of all global desktop search traffic.

While many Google searches occur on mobile nowadays, to date in 2021 they accounted for 70% of desktop traffic. This means that while it is still extremely important to focus on mobile, it is not yet time to give up on desktop and definitely not time to give up on Google. Making sure your business is ranking in Google searches and is user-friendly and beautiful on a desktop are key to 2022.

On the first page alone, the first five organic results account for 67.6% of all the clicks.

Let us just be honest with each other for a second, how often do you scroll through all the pages of results on Google? I know I typically will find what I need on the first page or I'll rephrase my search.

With 67% of clicks coming from not even the first page of results but the first five organic results (not the ads), it is extremely important that your business is ranking for the right keywords.

Because people are less likely to see your website the lower it is in SERPs, SEO is important and something especially worth your spend in 2022.

57% of marketing executives say on-page content development was the most effective SEO tactic.

With so many tips, tricks, and tactics with SEO, it is important not to waste time and money on ones your business won't benefit from.

Remember, although digital marketing is not a one size fit's all type of thing for your business, one thing that everyone can definitely see the benefit from is by doing on-page SEO.

70% of marketers see SEO as more effective than PPC.

As much as we see many businesses thrive while utilizing PPC campaigns that are managed professionally, we have also seen many fail that are not managed by a team that knows what they are doing.

But truly, nothing beats FREE traffic earned from Google for months and years of working an effective SEO strategy.

Having an effective, long term SEO strategy that builds equity with Google is what will bring in long term targeted, free traffic.

Google dominates mobile in the United States with over 94% of mobile search engine market share.

Mobile is HUGE right now and it's only going to get bigger.

Yes we have had an increase in desktop use with the last 22 months as more folks are at home, but remember that trend is going back in the upward direction.

Making sure your website is optimized for mobile, user-friendly, and of course, ranking on Google is a huge part of success online. Utilizing SEO is key to getting ranking and getting clicks and ultimately growing your business in 2022.

Only 0.78% of Google searchers will click on the second page.

With less than 1% of people searching on Google actually clicking through to the second page of results in 2021, it is becoming even more important to get your website on that first page for your keywords.

One thing I have learned is that it isn't just your wifi that causes pages to load slowly.

Spending the money on great website hosting and making sure your website is up to par on load time is something every business should be doing right now to prepare for 2022.

40% of mobile searches have local intent.

With 40% of mobile searches being from people who are intentionally searching places near them, it is important to make sure your business shows up! In 2022 if your business isn't utilizing local SEO you might get left in the dust and then spend more time, money, and effort trying to catch up. Local is EVERYTHING moving forward.

30% of all online searches are related to location.

Not only are a good chunk of mobile searches occurring related to location, but so are 30% of all online searches. This just stresses the importance of Local SEO just a little bit more. Especially if your business has a physical location, you want to show up when people near or far are searching for you.

In 2022, if your business isn't utilizing local SEO you will have a much harder time gaining an online presence in your location and ultimately growing your business.

There are over 40,000 Google searches every second.

At the end of the day, a lot of what search engine optimization does for your website and business is pretty much pleasing Google.

While there are many search engines out there, Google definitely rules the industry.

While there are many important parts of having a website and getting it ranking, the most important is staying on Google's good side in 2022.
