The International Medical Corps is Asking for Our Help for Haiti...it is really easy and such an honor to make a difference in the life of another human being in need.

I have often shared with you about my father's Guiillan Barre syndrome which he contracted from a Hep-B vaccine.  What I have not shared with you, are the stories of the incredible home health aids we have been blessed with to help take care of him. Our current home health aid is named Yollette and I dedicate this post to her and her family.  Their home in Haiti, which they rented out to another family, was completely
destroyed.  The mother, father and 5 year old living in the home were killed when it collapsed; leaving two surviving children homeless and without a family.  Miss Yollette (as we call her) had to be taken to the hospital today with blood pressure problems after hearing about the after shocks.  Yes, so many of us here in the US are witnessing the pain and sadness of the Haiti earthquake firsthand without needing the aid of television.

That's why when I received a request for help from the International Medical Corps, I was honored to help.

The International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization, founded by volunteer doctors and nurses and dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through relief and development programs. Their emergency response team is in Haiti responding in force and they have asked for our help.

There are still thousands of patients seeking treatment of which approximately 80% are in need of surgery and are running out of time - especially with the tremendous aftershocks still devastating this country. The team is treating crush injuries, trauma, substantial wound care, shock and other critical cases with the few available supplies...and they're in it for the long haul. I would love your help spreading the word by blogging, tweeting, donating or sharing the message about IMC's rescue efforts. Currently, I have posted a widget here on our site which you can use to share and  help. You can also find the widget at the International Medical Corps Website.

With the widget it's really easy to donate $10 to help the people of Haiti or to find other ways to assist these people who have lost so much; it is as simple as sending a text message with the word "haiti" to 85944. As Americans, as human beings, as brothers and sisters...we are all honored to help.

Thanks so very much,
Shane
