How to Take Advantage of Current Energy Tax Incentives? Start with a Home Energy Audit

So our air conditioner and heater has been illin' for like 6 months and it is time to get it replaced.  Although there is no better "family time" than, standing around the open stove in the morning to keep warm I think it is time to spend some cash and have heat like normal folks!  With the passage of President Obama’s Economic Stimulus Bill, homeowners may be eligible for a tax credit if they purchase certain types of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, water heating equipment, or make other energy-related improvements to their homes between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.

There are so many tax incentives though that it can be a bit confusing.  I have seen companies which are offering paid energy audits and I think that is a good option for businesses that can afford it.  But for the everyday consumer looking for ways to save money on energy costs and take advantage of current Federal Tax Credits and rebates, a good place to start is to simply contact your power company.

For absolutely no charge, your power company will come out and do an in depth analysis of your home's energy use and give you ways to save!  The information they provided for me has been very useful and will help to guide me through the best ways to save when replacing our HVAC unit.  Take the time to contact your power company and you will find ways to save green while going green...sorry I had to add that.

  2. Hey Melinda! Thanks for your kindness in stopping by. Some days I think I should just hang it up and worry about my own family. They are getting so big so fast and I am missing it.
