Christian Siriano's Fall line for Payless will be in stores this August
Recently, while I was in Detroit for the Go Further with Ford Motors event, I had the true pleasure of getting to talk with Christian Siriano, the youngest winner of one of my daughters' favorite shows, Bravo's Emmy nominated competition series, Project Runway.  Designer Siriano (@csiriano on Twitter) was extremely kind and accessible, especially compared to  Adrian Grenier, and I was delighted to be able to ask him one of my most burning eco questions.  How can we green the fashion industry's footprint to bring eco-fashion to the masses at an affordable price point?

Designer Siriano has already partnered with Payless Shoe Source to bring a line of super sexy and hot high end looking shoes to the masses and he recently met with the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to discuss ways the fashion industry can make less of an impact on the environment to create a greener fashion footprint.  Plus, as he was born in 1985, he was raised in an era where kids have had greening the environment incorporated into their school curriculum as well as their media.  I thought designer Siriano was the perfect person to ask about greening the fashion industry for all.

Here was his answer...

Christian Siriano Gets Being Broke

The thing that I love about designer Christian Siriano's answer to my greening the masses question, is that he is honestly seems to be able to relate to the ideology behind being broke.  So many times when I, or my green blogging contemporaries, ask various industry leaders this question, they seem to be very out of touch with the general public.  When they give answers like, "Once people are educated on the why behind going green, they will begin to buy green." I am convinced that they have no idea, or have forgotten, what it means to be broke.

Like suddenly people will be so knowledgeable about the positive aspects of living green that they will find an extra $100, $200 or more each week to buy organic fruits and veggies as well as new bamboo yoga pants and dye free onesies for their baby?  Christian Siriano gets being broke and sees the necessity in the fashion industry leading the greening revolution for people of all income levels.  I have great hope that in the not so distant future, young designers like Siriano will find a way to lead the fashion industry toward a greener eco-fashion footprint and deliver eco-fashion to the masses.

P.S.- People always ask me where I get my organic food and personal care products and I love to tell them about The Green PolkaDot Box! Backed by the Organic Consumer's Association and EnvironmentalBooty.com, you can easily buy NonGMO organic groceries, including Harvest Fresh Organic produce, at wholesale pricing online.  It's like a Sam's club but focused on products for green, healthy living!
