Moochie Makes Me Happy!

A fellow blogger friend of mine from the Blog A Bit of Happy  has sent her readers on a mission.  She has asked us to find and send her pictures of "Happy".  I remembered this shot we took from Sarasota's Lido Beach during last years vaca and had to send it to her.  It made me so happy looking at it again, I wanted to share it with my community!

This dolphin comes right up to your boat and tries to "Mooch" food from you.  Of course it is illegal to feed him (or her?) but you can touch him and he seems so happy.  The girls loved it and so did Ron and I.

Have a great day and send your happy shots to submissions@abitofhappy.com and be sure to check out the blog.

  1. I spent a lot of time in the Sarasota area last summer and went boating in the channel between Casey Key and Siesta Key and several times had a dolphin come up along the side of the boat to say hello, be petted and of course hopeful for a handout : )

  2. I wonder if Moochie is also known as Beggar who is famous around Casey Key and Siesta Key waters? Beggar has greeted us several times, allowed us to stroke him and was hopeful for hand outs but also content to just see our smiles.

  4. Thats a great picture! Moochice really does look happy there and it is good to see dolphins the way they are meant to be living. After seeing trailers for The Cove and learning more about the mass slaughter of dolphins, it is good to see one so happy!

  5. Hey Shane! The Cove is a new movie that documents the slaughter of dolphins that takes place in Taiji, Japan. The secretive practice involves corralling dolphins into a cove with no way for them to get out. Then they are sold off to places like Sea World for up to 1/4 of a million dollars. The dolphins that are not bought are killed because the Japanese see them as a nuance to their fishing boats. Check out their website at www.thecovemovie.com and some of my blogs at www.sandshack.org
