Are The Corn Refiners Association Commercials Right? Is High Fructose Corn Syrup Really Safe?

I love these commercials on TV, paid for by the Corn Refiners Association, which tell us that worry over High Fructose Corn Syrup is silly.  In fact, every single time I see one I am left with a feeling of how stupid I must be to be worried about something as inocuous as HFCS.  Then I wake up and realize that once again big business is trying to control my mind, and my pocketbook, with misinformation.  They really think that the public is stupid enough to believe their rhetoric.  So is it true?  Are we so busy and dumbed down that we truly will believe what the Corn Refiners (who manufacture HFCS) tell us when independent studies tell us there are risks (as there are with sugar) that we should be aware of?

Do not buy into their bull and get yourself informed enough to make your own decisions about HFCS.  Take a look right now at these articles from Natural News and The Mayo Clinic which I have found very informative on HFCS.

  3. Honestly, if you were smart enough to realize that corn syrup is made by taking corn and converting it to maltose, to glucose, and to finally fructose... using enzymes that are NATURALLY OCCURRING IN YOUR BODY ALREADY.... you wouldn't believe this hype about "corn syrup is awful for you".... because anything in quantities higher than necessary is awful for you. Want to eat naturally found sugar instead? Eat the same amount of sugar as the amount of high fructose corn syrup that could make you ill... and you will get just as ill. High fructose corn syrup is safe and natural. Sugar is just as bad for you as HFCS.
    You fail.

  4. Hi Penna, I appreciate your passion about High Fructose Corn Syrup. Where does your passion come from? I would love to hear more.

I think it is important for people to understand what they are ingesting. Just as people have become educated about the ills of too much sugar, people should know about the ills of too much HFCS.

As it is in so many products and many people assume it is safe to consume in any amoount, they should know that it is something to be taken in moderation...just as the Corn Refiner's Assn. commercials say.

I think I love you...please stop back in and I hope you reply!
