3 Ways to Go Green and Make Every Day International Plastic Bag Free Day!

Happy Fourth of July Weekend to all!!  I hope that your weekend is going fabulously!!  We are making plans to head out to watch fireworks and listen to some great music tonight at Crane's Roost Park.  I always joke that it is kind of hard to get super excited about watching fireworks when you live in the firework capital of the country. We have Disney like practically in our backyard and we hear the booming of all of the park's fireworks every single night and can easily see them.

Anyhoo, I am checking in to tell ya'll that today is International Plastic Bag Free Day.  Anyone that knows me knows that I hate plastic bags.  I even bought a purse called the "Never Full" so that I always have a bag in hand, or on shoulder as it may be, and don't need to use a petroleum bag.  When I see a plastic bag floating down the street, trying to imagine it's final destination in a place like the Pacific Ocean Garbage Patch always makes me sad.

Here are 3 ways to go green and make every day plastic bag free day:
  1. Educate yourself on why plastic bags are so not green and so bad for our environment.
  2. Talk to your friends about why they should make a personal commitment to ban the plastic bag.  The more we share what we know about creating a healthier future for ourselves, the more we affect positive change that matters.
  3. Find a reusable bag that you love and keep it with you.  These handy little Chico Bags are a great green find.  They are easy to fold into their tiny, little, colored bag and tuck away until you need them.
Look, hopefully someday all plastic bags will be banned but until then, chances are you are going to get plastic bags shoved on you.  On those occasions when you find yourself with a few plastic bags around, or if you are are being buried in them like in the video above, just toss them in the recycling bin at your local grocery store.  If that is not an option for you, use this handy gadget to find out how to recycle plastic bags in your area.
