Irvine, CA (January 22, 2009) – Arbonne International, LLC (“Arbonne”) today announced the voluntary recall of certain lots of its Arbonne Figure 8 Peanut Butter Chews because the products contain peanut butter that was manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), which is the focus of an ongoing Salmonella investigation. This recall is part of the nationwide recall initiated by PCA.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. For more information on Salmonella bacteria, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Website at www.cdc.com. Consumers with questions or concerns about their health or observe symptoms should contact their health care provider or go to a hospital.
Arbonne Figure 8 Chews are distributed nationwide through independent Arbonne consultants. The Arbonne Figure 8 Chews affected by this recall are ONLY the Peanut Butter Chews from the following lot numbers (with shipping dates ranging from October 27, 2008 to January 19, 2009):

These chews were sold in individual packages and as a component of the Go Figure 8 30-Day Program Set and the Figure 8 Ready, Set, Go! Vanilla product bundles. The lot number for Arbonne Figure 8 Peanut Butter Chews may be found on the lower left back panel of the bag containing the product. If consumers are unable to locate the lot number, they should contact Arbonne’s Customer Service Center for assistance.
In addition to Arbonne’s removal of recalled products from its inventory, Arbonne is requesting that consumers destroy recalled product. Arbonne will, at a consumer’s choice, replace the product with Arbonne Figure 8 Chocolate Chews or refund the money paid for the recalled product. In order to exchange product or receive a refund, the consumer must provide the lot number of the recalled product. If Arbonne consumers are unsure if they have the recalled product, they are requested to contact the Arbonne Customer Service Center. Requests for refunds, product exchanges or other questions should be addressed to Arbonne’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-ARBONNE.

One of the reasons I've had so much trouble signing autographs and shaking hands in the past is because I have had a horrible condition on my hands that caused them to crack, bleed and cause me tremendous pain. And then Sue brought me an amazing group of products that virtually cured my symptoms.
I feel compelled to tell you about this. Sometimes, something happens and you feel that you just have to share it with people. Most people -except the closest ones to me - haven't known about the pain, embarrassment and self consciousness I have experienced associated with this condition.
Those of you who have been fans of mine from the beginning know that I have never been an advocate for or recommended products of any kind in the past. It's just not my style.
Well. a few months ago, after coming off the road from a number of concert performances, I experienced a recurrence of this very painful and ugly skin condition on my hands.
Since I am a skeptic by nature, and having tried so many prescriptions and various remedies, Sue practically forced me to try 2 products when I got home called Intelligence Hand Cream and Intelligence Conditioning Oil.
I, of course, rolled my eyes and thought-"Ok- I'll humor her", but, remarkably, in 5 days of using these 2 products- for the first time in my life- the condition completely cleared up and my hands were healed.
I have suffered from cracking, bleeding and peeling skin on my hands for years. It had become so painful that often it was almost impossible to play my guitar. The frustration and pain as well as the embarrassment of the way my hands looked had become almost intolerable.
So, kids. I became extremely interested in finding out who manufactured these products. I learned that the company, Arbonne International, has been around for nearly 30 years, although I had never heard of it before. The products are formulated in Switzerland and manufactured in the USA. It is a "green" company, the products botanically based and the company has no animal testing and uses no animal by-products- and you all know my love for animals.
Sue did extensive research on my behalf and purchased a number of other skin, hair and body products. Now, our whole house has become "Arbonnized" and I'm telling you that this stuff is fantastic! All I know is, it really works for us and for our friends who have tried it.
Sue became so enthusiastic after seeing the results I had, researching the company and using the products, that she has now started her own Arbonne business. She has completely thrown herself into this because she is blown away.
As fate would have it, Arbonne just opened their business in the U.K. on November 4th, having just recently become available in Canada and Australia.
Sue is planning several trips to help educate people and assist them in opening their own Arbonne businesses and I will be accompanying her on some of them, as my schedule allows. That's how much I believe in this!
I hope that what I have shared with you about my own personal experience and my opinion of these products is helpful to you or anyone you may know who suffers as I did. I certainly can't guarantee results for you. All I know is what I've experienced and it would have been selfish of me not to share the information with you.
These products are not just for problems, though. Arbonne has tons of stuff for everyone from the cradle to the grave, and I gotta tell you that Sue's skin has never been softer and she has never looked better. Even Beau is using it!

What part will you play..??
1. Look at your own spending.. where do you spend?.. Should you think about supporting people in your own community.. the mom and pops that are trying to keep the doors open.... re-stimulate their businesses and support them... not all of them... be intentional and realistic about what you can do... but dig deep.... choose the ones that are your friends.. people you gravitate to and people that you need things from.. Create and establish a foundation of respect and loyalty... showing that you care about them and that it is important for you to help those locally...
You probably give so much to charity .... think about helping the local businesses as well... in that regard... Those people will be loyal to you as well..This establishes a long term respect for your business and who you are., by thinking of others when making purchases for yourself.
2. Think in Abundance...
Are you still thinking in abundance or are you falling into that "poor me" trap... Don't do it.. this is a critical test in perseverance and belief....
Don't fail the test... Hold your head high... help others.... and don't stop asking and sharing. You don't know what is going on in the hearts and minds of your acquaintances and family and friends.. especially now... Don't assume..!!!! and Don't lose your focus....
3.. Your energy and confidence... Do whatever it takes to "feel good" about your success in life. Where you are going.. what your vision is.. keep it close to your heart.... feel it.. think about your dreams daily and realize .. We are all on equal footings... this is the chance to not be Behind... not trying to catch up.. You can lead in your life ... in business and in your community , depending on how you "look at what is happening '" around you as a burden or an opportunity..
4 . TURN THE NEWS OFF.. remember.. what you feed your mind.. you will believe..
It is all about scaring you .. making you feel defeated and sad.. Many are walking through the days still thinking in abundance.. and those will be the ones that have taken adversity and turned it into success and security.. People are hungry for positive people now.... Don't spend time with whiners... be a light in the dark... for your friends and family..

For all of our VEGAN and P.E.T.A. friends, Arbonne is a perfect fit for you too. Check out our VEGAN make-up. I enjoy knowing there are no animal products or by-products in my makeup. As in our skin care, you can really feel the difference our botanically based Vegan formulations make in our products. I hope you truly understand what it means that a company does not use animal by products in their formulations. Google Animal Rendering and Tallow and see what you find. I hope you have a strong stomache though. I have never really believed all of the lead in lipstick, whale lard in skincare internet stories. Beware of What You Read!
It just amazes me that there is so much information that is just plain wrong on the internet. Case in point, so much info about Arbonne's ingredients. We do not use any sodium lauryl sulfate, and we are phasing out parabens and currently have under 20 products to reformulate to have a 100% complete paraben free line. Sadly, old information remains and it can be confusing. Look at your labels and let me know if you have any questions about our ingredients. I will clear up any confusion you may have.

Organic, Kosher, Science? What Does it All Mean?
I had a great email chat with a friend of mine about organic products. She is a wonderful mom and a very knowledgeable person when it comes to being an informed consumer. She said she was familiar with Arbonne but only used organic. Ya'll know that I am totally about trying to be a consumer of safe products. I would never put anything on my kids or myself if I didn't have the knowledge that it is the purest and safest available. I am not perfect, I'll eat a toxic little cupcake at a birthday party, heck, I might even serve them at one of my kid's parties...maybe, maybe not. Anyway, I know that our founder Peter Morck did everything in his power to set the highest standards for products that are pure, safe and beneficial...it is not a slogan...it was a man's life work. Are Arbonne products certified organic/kosher? What does the source “science” mean as stated in the ingredient lists?
Many botanical ingredients used in Arbonne’s products are organic, from the perspective of having been grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides. Not all ingredients are available as organic which is why we cannot make such a claim. Know that we always choose organic when it is available.
Our current kosher products are the Figure 8™ Just Go! Fiber Shake and the Figure 8™ Go Easy! Protein Shakes (Vanilla and Chocolate).
Science, as we use it, means man-made/formulated in a laboratory. For instance, natural beeswax is a wonderful ingredient with many beneficial properties. Because it is considered an animal by-product, to use it would not be in compliance with our philosophies. To overcome this, we use synthetic beeswax, which replicates the composition of natural beeswax.

5-11 Update: I posted this article years ago when I was an Independent Consultant for Arbonne. I came to find that many of Arbonne's products contained harmful ingredients like parabens. I moved on to partnerships with organic companies and, at this time, do not know if ingredients such as parabens are still in their products.

What Does Young Skin Need?
I have had so many people asking me recently about what types of products are good for their very young daughter's (sometimes 9 years old) skin care. All I have to say is. "Way to go moms!!" As we have talked about before, 90% of aging is actinic or from the outside elements; UVA & UVB rays as well as toxins or free radicals in our environment that work to break down one of our most important organs...our skin. This actinic aging can definitely be fought effective if we start soon enough.
Te first thing you should always do for your little one's skin is PUT ON SUNSCREEN. The Arbonne ABC Line has the most gentle, non greasy sunscreen that is super nourishing. It is even great for skin suffering from eczema. Use it or the SPF 15 for face and body in our Re9 line.Most of the damaging effects of sun damage are done by the time someone is 20 years old. The next thing you should begin to do is teach your children about the importance of keeping the skin clean. Begin to get them (that is our daughters as well as sons) into the habit of morning and evening washing, toning, moisturizing. This will begin protecting and nourishing their skin. The toner is especially important because it will help to keep the skin at an optimum ph level (if the product is any good) of 5.5. This insures that skin can fight off bacteria and is properly prepared for the moisturizing. Arbonne adds a wonderful exfoliating, thermal fusion mask and a daily eye cream to their line for young skin. The product containers are labeled for ease of use and the mask is very safe for sensitive skin but should only be used a few times a week. And here is a hint, if you are having breakouts, the Arbonne Intelligence will self adjust and work where it's needed to clear your blemishes.
